Athens Greenway Restoration – Saturday Event

Hey everyone,

hope you’re all doing well.

I got this message from Ellison, one of the Athens Greenway Assistants:

The Greenway is having an invasive removal this Saturday at the College & MLK Greenway park. They’ll be meeting at 9am this Saturday the 14th for an hour or so.  Anyone interested can join, they’ll be meeting in the parking lot at College & MLK before getting started.

FYI, the Greenway has work days every 2nd and 4th Saturday and are always looking for more volunteers. Parts of the Greenway have become home to a wide variety of invasive species that they have been trying to tackle over the last year or so.

Questions? contact Ellison at:

EllisonFidler@co.clarke.ga.us

thanks,

ben

DOCU Design/Build – ASID Lecture – Thursday!

I’ve attached some pictures of the D.O.C. Unlimited project that we will be touring on Thursday. Check out more about this local firm at www.docunlimited.com Here’s the info:

Thursday, November 5th: D.O.C. Unlimited’s latest design-build project.

The house is a unique, performance-driven design that incorporates passive solar strategies, precast insulated concrete panels, high R-value windows and doors, structural insulated panels, abundant daylight, reduced waste, a cool roof, and a geothermal heating & cooling system. All of the assemblies are designed to both improve the building’s thermal envelope and to create a generous platform for living.

The project is located in Oconee County, just outside of Athens. The project is currently dried-in, but not sheetrocked. This will allow us to see the assemblies, and to understand the construction as it relates to the building’s performance.

We’d like to invite those who are interested to an informal and open tour of the house.

Time: Thursday, November 5th, 3:30pm.
Address: 321 South Burson Avenue, Bogart, GA. 30622

RSVP by emailing Kate – We will meet at the site, but let me know if you need a ride.

And after the tour…

Thursday, November 5: ASID lecture with Kerry Howard

The student chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers presents a lecture with Kerry Howard of Bravo TV’s Top Design. 5:30pm, Lamar Dodd School of Art, S150. Email Anna Claire Davis at with questions.

Sunday, November 8: Rivers Alive Cleanup from 2-6pm, not 12-4pm as originally posted.

Thanks,

Kate
