Park a Park – See it today.
If you haven’t already, go to the College Avenue Parking Deck top floor down town to check out ‘Park a Park’. Professor Didi Dunphy and her class of 15 students have put together a park in the space of one car lot at the top of the parking deck. The project is part of Professor Dunphy’s Art X Hyper Media Class. This class brings art into unexpected places using methods not bound by regular media as forms of artistic expression. The idea is to shake up people’s interpretation of what art can be by using people, nature and structure as forms of social expression.
In coordination with and through the auspices of Athens Clark County Leisure Services, the park began its existence at 11 am this morning and will cease to exist at 5:30 pm this afternoon. They have italian ice popsicles, colas, and pb&j’s on a first-come-first-served basis. You can scribble art in the chalk graffiti square, play board games, or just relax in the park on one of two benches or on the astro-turf.
Be sure to take time between classes to visit this unique and ephemeral built space.
